First off let me credit Bob Neubauer with the fantastic idea of listing what I've done in all 50 states.
All 50 States
As of now, in may of 2010, I'm two states away from having visited all 50 States in the United States of America. I'm making it a goal to visit the last two states that I have not yet visited, Arkasas, and Alaska.
I knocked the majority of the states of my list in a road trip I did in 2001, which took me 3 months and 22k miles around the country. I've since done a number of other road trips across parts of the country, leaving only the two states...
Alabama
I drove through the southern coast of Alabama through Mobile, on I-10 on my way back from a trip to Savannah, GA
1976 - The first time I was in Arizona, I was too young to remember the trip. I visited my Grandparents in SunCity when I was 18 months old.
2001 - The second time, I drove in on I-10 from Joshua Tree National Park, and went through Phoenix and Scottsdale where I visited the Frank Lloyd Wrights Taliesin. Then up through Sedona to Flagstaff where I stayed the night. I then drove north up 89, and visited Sunset Crater Volcano National Park, and drove through it into Wupatki National Monument. The view on the way back toward 89 from Wupatki is gorgeous, with a rainbow of rock on the horizon. From there I drove up 89 to the Grand Canyon, and camped in the park. I exited the state on this trip up noth near Zion National Park.
200? - Flew into Phoenix with some friends to visit another friend - stayed with her. We did a little road trip to Sedona and hiked up a mountain, And Visited the Frank Lloyd Wright Taliesin West in Scottsdale.
2008 - Drove into the state from New Mexico on I-10 into Tuscon, where I met my dad, who flew into the airport there. We stayed there overnight, and then went to Saguaro National Park & . From there we drove to Phoenix, Stopped at the Cadillac only junkyard on Grand ave., and then drove to Sun City, and found where my grandparents lived in the mid-seventies. From there, we drove out of the state on 10.

Maine
2009 - Maine was one of three states I hadn't visited at the time, I found an inexpensive flight to Boston, and drove to Maine from there. It was the end of the season there, so a lot of the places I got recommendations to go were closed, and there were a shortage of inexpensive places to stay. I drove into the state on 295 then turned off on 1 and drove to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor. On my way back I also visited the Maine Coastal Botanical Gardens, which were gorgeous! I spent a bit of time in Portland on my way back out of the state.
